Skip Hop makes some excellent diaper bags, and this one is no exception. The Skip Hop Duo Signature has a slightly more modern styling than the classic lines and colors of the Grand Central models, and is shaped more like a tote or over-the-shoulder bag than it is a purse. It's narrow and deep rather than wide and short, and a bit smaller overall than the purse-shaped models, so it's good for someone who doesn't want to be lugging around a truly enormous diaper bag. It's also about the same width as most strollers, so it doesn't stick out on the sides a lot when you hang it on the handlebars. But while it's smaller overall, it's still super functional. It has 10 pockets, a separate insulated bottle holder, a breathable side pocket, a key ring clip, diaper changing pad, and a great interior liner. The Skip Hop Duo's main interior pocket is super deep and we loved the lining, it was soft but also rugged enough to make wipe-cleaning easy. The padded shoulder strap was comfortable, as were the padded carry-handles. We were able to fit everything in that we needed, including diapers, wipes, baby bottles, and cloths. Being relatively tall, we found that when it was fully loaded it did tend to topple over sometimes. We also found it less convenient to reach in and easily grab something, since things tended to get stacked on top of one another, so this design might not be for everyone. Also, the changing pad was a bit small relative to some others on this list. So, this Skip Hop Duo Signature model is an excellent diaper bag, with some minor drawbacks. Note that Skip Hop also makes a Skip Hop Duo Diaper Backpack that is very similar to this but in the backpack style, and is also very well-reviewed. Interested? The Jeep Diaper Backpack was roomy, and had plenty of pockets for organization, including a zippered, insulated pocket for a bottle on the side of the bag. But it did not have an open pocket for a bottle, which meant that anytime we needed a drink, we had to remove the backpack from our shoulders and unzip one of the pockets. We ran into the same problem with the Bag Nation Diaper Backpack. Almost identical in design to the Jeep Diaper Bag, the Bag Nation Diaper Backpack also did not have any open pockets, though it did have an insulated pocket for a bottle on the side.

Staying organized when you are a parent is no easy feat. This diaper backpack from Graco will make the task just a bit easier with multiple pockets that are made for bottles, burp cloths, and even a wipes dispenser. It also has smaller pockets on the inside to house keys, medical supplies, cell phones, and more. Along with all of the pockets, this diaper backpack also comes with a changing pad which makes changing diapers on-the-go easy. https://i.pinimg.com/originals/ed/40/59/ed4059556eff72b12a14796446d99859.jpg
In case you’re wondering how large this bag feels, it is a near perfect size. It’s not so small that nothing fits, but it’s also not a large cavernous tote that gets weighed down and is heavy to carry. When I sling it on my shoulder, it hits my waist. The straps are a perfect length so the bag is not shoved up under your arm pit, but not so long the bag bangs on your hip when walking. Real life photo for you! https://i.pinimg.com/345x/45/81/46/4581469c33f5788d3d6f39f78f556e4e.jpg
When the time came to ditch the diaper bag, I jumped for joy. I never liked toting around a huge bag, but was still surprised that even though I now have a five-year-old, we still cart around a lot of stuff! Now that we are involved in school and sports, it turns out I still need a decent bag that’s both functional and stylish. Just as we signed up for the upcoming summer swim team (that requires tons of swim accessories!), one of my favorite companies released a baby line- Baby by Thirty One! https://i.pinimg.com/236x/46/6b/f7/466bf7ecb298b345300fd7bab13173e1--guatemalan-textiles-boho-bags.jpg

Thirty One Gifts is a direct sales company that offers beautifully patterned purses, totes and other organizational and home items, with most products able to be personalized through pattern choice and embroidered names and symbols. Individual commission-compensated consultants sell the company's products through fun parties held in the homes of hosts. https://i.pinimg.com/236x/63/a5/f4/63a5f46c3de9c808545c1daa2e1cc351--thirty-one-fall-thirty-one-gifts.jpg
Over time, though, something started to shift. I realized I felt trapped by my daughter's feeding schedule. I felt isolated in the fact that she needed me―only me―and that I couldn't ask for help with this monumental task even if I truly needed it. While I was still so grateful that I was able to breastfeed without much difficulty, a growing part of me began fantasizing about the freedom and shared burden that would come if we bottle fed, even just on occasion. https://i.pinimg.com/originals/b0/02/1f/b0021f6753dfa14fccdc42ba48a864ae.jpg
This bag is easier to clean than any other bag we tested. A major thing that sets the B.F.F. apart is that this is the only one with the manufacturer’s approval to send it through the washing machine.2 In our 24-hour-old-milk-and-crushed-Cheerios cleaning test, we gave the bag a quick, perfunctory wipedown, then (per the company’s instructions) removed the straps, turned the bag inside out, placed it in a pillowcase, and tossed it in the machine with the rest of our laundry. When we took it out of the wash, all the milk and crusted cereal crumbs were gone, and it was the only one that truly looked spotless after our cleaning tests.
It has plenty of interior and exterior pockets to organize all our stuff (even for all 3 kids). It has shoulder straps and a removable cross-body strap, it has clips to attach it so a stroller, it zips closed (and has a couple zippered outside pockets), it’s big enough but not TOO big, and it’s super cute! In fact, most people don’t even realize it’s a diaper bag until they see the sippy cups popping out!
Though the faith-based theme and mottos are subtle, many consultants enjoy working with a home party sales company that shares their values. Thirty One Gifts supports women in their efforts to bring prosperity to their households. Through the Thirty One Gives charity branch of the organization, the company also gives back to their local Ohio community through donations, building houses for the needy, product donations and more. This commitment to improving the quality of life for those less fortunate falls in line with the sentiments expressed in proverb Thirty One, bolstering the strength and capability of a woman-owned company filled with motivated female consultants and employees. https://i.pinimg.com/236x/8b/ff/51/8bff51b2be760e0a14eae8006f96599b--lia-sophia-marrakesh.jpg
A tip that I wish I had figured out a lot sooner… cosmetic bags are a GREAT “rectangular” size to hold a few diapers and a small wipes pack, plus some other small items (WetWipes, etc). I have several of these diaper “clutches”… they can easily go in and out of our larger diaper bag, and I keep one in each car. I like them a lot better than the true “diaper clutches” that are sold – I don’t need something bulky/fancy that folds out into a changing pad, etc! I have found good size bags at WalMart and Harmon. https://i.pinimg.com/236x/eb/b3/b4/ebb3b4e7766eafb28c554cf73bfa1fc4.jpg
While the Thirty One Gifts catalog shows beautiful traditional purses, they are only a small part of the impressive product catalog made available to lucky 31 Gifts party goers. From large totes that are ideal to bring along to the beach to small organizational pouches for home use, shoppers enjoy the selection of fabrics, embroidery customization options and matching accessories available for each product. With a color and pattern palette that greets each season with exciting new offerings and secret hostess-exclusive items, there’s a little something for everyone under the Thirty One Gifts umbrella.
There are elastic holders on one of the sides for two water bottles or baby bottles, plus lots of pockets to organize everything. I really like that there is a thermal lined pocket on the inside of the tote for a sandwich or some cheese sticks. It is big enough to hold lunch for one or snacks for 4. It really makes this bag an all-in-one option so you do not need to take a lunch bag or cooler unless you need more than a snack or single lunch. The middle compartment has a zipper closure that I keep my personal items in like my wallet. I like that I can zip it up and know it is secure but then the compartments on either side are open for easy access to wipes, or toys that I may need to grab quickly. https://i.pinimg.com/236x/8e/cf/03/8ecf034c96a5f620f31ea86fd147eacd.jpg
The Carter’s City Tote was the largest tote we tried, and it was the one we used one afternoon when we needed to pack extra clothing for three kids instead of just one. Our chief quibble: The six pockets inside the main compartment are confusing. Labeled “bottles” on one side and “my stuff” on the other, the interior pockets were not wide enough to fit our wipes and diapers, which meant they got dumped in the main compartment with everything else. In addition, though the Carter’s City Tote was the most lightweight bag we tried (8 ounces), the downside of a large tote like this one is that if you fill it to capacity there is more risk of overfilling the bag so that it becomes especially heavy to carry on your shoulder. With unpadded straps, that’s uncomfortable. https://i.pinimg.com/280x280_RS/f6/f9/cf/f6f9cf6fbd27922fd2cdb7883cf66704.jpg
With four elastic pockets inside, two side-zip pockets, and two interior elastic pen pockets, the Super Swap-It Pocket is a fabulous way to organize and carry small items. From tablet and smart phone accessories to receipts, gift cards, planners and more, this essential organizing insert can travel on its own or fit neatly inside a larger tote or bag to keep contents squared away. https://i.pinimg.com/236x/a5/6c/76/a56c7621770a2237f37c5a3cd97a2cea.jpg
We spent 14 hours researching online and off to first create a list of about 40 finalists, culled from the designer bags, cheap knock-offs, and dozens of other bags available. We then combed through hundreds of user reviews on Amazon, Babies“R”Us, Zappos, BuyBuy Baby, and Target, and read dozens more reviews by baby-gear experts and parent bloggers. We spoke in person with four local baby retailers and consignment stores about what their customers want, which brands they carry, and why.1 https://i.pinimg.com/736x/3f/63/2a/3f632abc6e89cba1d3e5fea0e16964bf--thirty-one-gifts-consultant.jpg
I have 4 kiddos and currently love the Harbor Side Tote (although the new satchel looks adorable too), from Vilah Bloom! I believe they are based out of Michigan and the company was very attentive when my latest shipment was late. It has a comfortable, detachable cross body option and lots of pockets inside and out. I too, have gone through a ton of diaper bags over the years as our needs have changed. I’m hoping I can use this one for a few more years, since it doesn’t really look like a diaper bag to me! https://i.pinimg.com/236x/9a/95/6d/9a956ded2b2e2b99fc7bc0aa0292970f--mermaid-eyes-mermaid-makeup.jpg
So why buy an actual diaper bag? They’re thoughtfully designed with right-size pockets for essential baby gear, and made with tough material that’s easy to clean—inevitably, milk or juice will spill inside, and crushed crackers will find their way into crevices. Mine has been tossed around in my car, dumped on park benches and dragged across wet grass. I once accidentally left a banana peel in it for a few days. “The diaper bag is for the diapering years,” said Meg Collins, founder of Lucie’s List, a blog that recommends essential baby products for new parents. “It’s meant to keep you organized and sane. You have go-to pockets for your keys, diapers and wipes. You don’t have to think or fumble.” That just may help you escape the house a little more quickly. https://i.pinimg.com/236x/4b/dc/72/4bdc723ab276c2609294b82b894d28f4--pink-lipstick-makeup-hot-pink-lipsticks.jpg
The Petunia Pickle Bottom Boxy Backpack is a common competitor to the Ju-Ju-Be B.F.F., and it offers many of the same advantages: It can be converted into a backpack, messenger, or shoulder bag, though the straps are not padded and can’t be removed like the B.F.F.’s. We liked the metal keyring, a feature that we also found in the B.F.F. but didn’t find in the other bags we reviewed. (The DadGear Backpack has a plastic key ring, but its quality was not as nice.) We especially liked the Boxy Backpack’s changing station: a cushioned changing pad folds out from the front of the backpack, revealing two elastic pockets that hold the diapers and wipes. With everything in one place, diaper changing with a squirmy, uncooperative baby was more manageable than with any of the other diaper bags we tested. Unfortunately, the Petunia Pickle Bottom has only two small open pockets, which aren’t big enough to accommodate a reusable water bottle (you can shove a disposable 16.9-ounce plastic water into the pocket, but it’s a tight fit)—and these outside pockets proved extremely useful on our other picks.
It has more flexibility than any of the other bags we considered—it can be worn as a backpack, across your body as a messenger bag, on your shoulder as a handbag, or carried as a tote. The heaviest of our picks at 2.3 pounds, the B.F.F. comes with multiple straps that are adjustable and quick and easy to unclip and remove (though we found that they can sometimes still get in the way). https://i.pinimg.com/236x/0e/d9/59/0ed9596dd6f381cb6d06ca62e86d8b08.jpg
"As a single parent of two children going to school full time, I wouldn't be able to come to school and afford for childcare," says Michelle Trinidad, a student at Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC) and parent to a 4 and 5-year-old. "Thank goodness for BMCC Early Childhood Center that is very much affordable. It gives me the opportunity to advance my career and be confident that my son is in good hands. School is hard enough on its own, having reliable child care means a lot to me and my children."
I sell it so I'm a little biased BUT I would recommend the Organizing Utility Tote. I used one as a diaper bag BEFORE I started selling it so I loved it before it paid to love it. A lot of the women in my church use the Organizing Utility tote for diaper bags. I also used the Cindy tote for awhile since I was a FTM (first time mom) that overpacked for everything.
Hoskins also believes that having to get in and out of bed to get to your baby in the night is good for moms who might be otherwise reluctant to move while recovering from C-sections. If you don't move, the risk of blood clots in the legs increases. "An advantage of being forced to get up for the baby is that it forces the mother to move her legs — it's a big plus. However painful it can be, it's important for new moms to move rather than remaining in their hospital beds."

This is our highest-ranking convertible diaper bag, and we love the style and functionality of this versatile and relatively unisex diaper bag system. The bag converts from a regular over-the-shoulder diaper bag, to a messenger bag, and to a super comfortable backpack with soft shoulder pads. So just when your arm or shoulder is getting sore, you can untuck the backpack straps from the side pocket, and off you go, in style and comfort. But it's not just versatile. This diaper bag is also super functional. It has outside and inside pockets, 3M baby bottle insulator pockets, and clever see-through plastic pockets inside so you can see what you're looking for before you go searching. It's relatively small, but we found it big enough for one baby, and the fact that you can open the main compartment nice and wide really helps you fit all your things in (and prevents you from randomly searching for things). But it does have a few drawbacks, given its high price (like $170). For this price, we would expect a bit higher quality on the fabrics and zippers. They're good, but not quite on par with the heavier duty zippers of a SOHO bag, or the easy-clean fabrics of a SkipHop bag. So while it's on our list of best diaper bags, and we think it's worthy of inclusion, these drawbacks will keep it a bit lower in our reviews and ratings. Interested?
