There’s a unique velvet pocket that protects your sunglasses, a keyring so you can find your keys in a snap, and two open insulated pockets that are nice for bottles (but honestly they were not amazing insulators). Plus, with details such as gold metal hardware, we thought the B.F.F. looked the most fashion-forward out of our top picks. The construction feels really robust, although you do see some occasional complaints of things breaking that really shouldn’t.

We ultimately used the diaper bags in nearly 50 real-world settings in two states, including on airplanes, at the beach, at the mall, at Costco, at an amusement park (where birds landed on the diaper bags and pecked at them), and at the zoo, playgrounds, restaurants, a kids soccer game, museums, the doctor’s office, and the pool. Almost all the diaper bags traveled with us during a family vacation to Hawaii, where it was humid, sandy, occasionally rainy, and about 85 to 100 degrees Fahrenheit on most days. We hung the bags on our stroller—which indeed tipped over several times, though luckily not with the baby strapped inside it!—during long walks, and slung it over our shoulders or backs the rest of the time. In the majority of our outings, we changed the baby’s diaper to see how manageable it would be to set up the changing pad and reach the diapers and wipes. https://i.pinimg.com/originals/32/f6/7f/32f67f318016fbda5458f474df5c886a.jpg

This was especially true when it came to feeding. Originally, I told myself we would breastfeed―exclusively. I had built up the idea in my mind that this was the correct way of feeding my child, and that anything else was somehow cheating. Plus, I love the connection it brought us, and so many of my favorite early memories are just my baby and me (at all hours of night), as close as two people can be as I fed her from my breast.
Sold at Nordstrom and other upscale retailers, the Petunia Pickle Bottom diaper bags (and backpack diaper bags) are among the most popular, super-stylish, and high quality diaper bags available on the market. The styles are awesome and range from quilted black with gold trim, to flowers and abstract watercolors. The designs are subtle and give the bags a high-end look. And the price tends to reflect that, with this Boxy Backpack model coming in at just over $150, making it the most expensive diaper bag option on our list! Its price is almost justified by its high quality and functionality. The bag we tried, the Indigo model pictured to the right, was made right here in the USA of cotton canvas that has a durable glazed coating on it for stain and water resistance. For functionality, this bag is really large, coming in at about 0.90 cubic feet of capacity. For pockets, there are several inside (8 of them), including two with zippers, and 3 outside (two for baby bottles on the side, and one larger one on the front that holds the included diaper changing station and pad). So, there's tons of space inside, and plenty of pockets for organizing baby care products, and the top opens up nice and wide for easy access. In terms of versatility, it also has several carrying options. You can carry it like a tote using the top grab handle, or use it as an over the shoulder diaper bag, backpack diaper bag, or attach to the stroller using the included stroller straps. It looks best as a shoulder diaper bag, but when you get sore it's great to have the option to wear it as a backpack. In our testing, we found the bag to be generally high quality, stylish, versatile, functional, and really large. It stands on end on its own, which is really nice - in other words, it doesn't tend to topple over like some other diaper bags. Maybe that's why it's called the Boxy model since the bottom is pretty boxy and stable. We also liked that it came with a sleek plastic baby wipe holder or diaper tote that made trips to the changing table much easier. There's really a lot to love about this diaper bag - but is the price worth it? Well, there were some limitations to the bag we purchased for testing. First, we were surprised that there was no insulated pocket for bottles or foods, not even the bottle pockets on the sides have any insulation. Second, the fabric is available in cotton canvas, embossed stitching, and a plush chenille. We actually only tested the cotton canvas, but we made the mistake of putting it in the washing machine after a milk spill, and the bag fell apart a bit - some of the stitching came loose, and it seemed like the bag lost some of its water resistance. So that was a bummer. Finally, the backpack straps aren't padded so they're not the most comfortable straps in the world - same with the shoulder strap. So definitely some limitations that might make you reconsider whether the style and Petunia Pickle Bottom name recognition are worth the price? We'll let you decide! Interested? To figure out how big of a baby diaper bag you'll need, put some thought into how many things you'll want to be carrying around. It's not just for baby diapers and baby essentials (dont' forget nipple cream, lotions, baby sunscreen, and maybe even one of the smaller best breast pumps), but the baby bag will also be responsible for holding the contents of your purse unless you plan on carrying both the baby bag and your purse around all day (which we don't suggest!). So that means you'll want to make sure the baby diaper bag is big enough to hold all of the baby essentials along with things like your wallet, keys, lip balm, tissues, makeup, sunglasses, and anything else you carry around in your purse on a daily basis. Otherwise it's not really about finding the right diaper bags for moms, it becomes more about shoving in all the baby stuff and leaving mom's things behind! https://i.pinimg.com/originals/3c/0d/fe/3c0dfe90297d668109d3e4340406946b.jpg

Reasonably priced and widely available. You can find diaper bags for as little as $15 and as much as $1,500. We opted for a middle ground, and set a maximum price of $200. We focused on popular bags commonly found at major retailers such as Babies“R”Us, BuyBuy Baby, Target, and Amazon. We didn’t find much for $25 and under. “Don’t get taken by a cheap one, because it’s going to fall apart and you’ll need to buy something else,” Meg Collins, founder of Lucie’s List, told us. https://i.pinimg.com/236x/c9/f4/30/c9f430e14b4f7a51971e0c5662165d15.jpg
After applying our criteria, we ended up with a list of a dozen bags to test. As soon as the bags arrived, we examined the overall design, features, and pocket structure carefully. Then my husband and I spent six weeks carrying the bags daily in everyday life, using each bag for at least two days and the best ones for far longer than that (I’m a 5-foot-3 woman; my husband is 5-foot-10). We were consistent in how we packed each one. We kept it to the basics: a few diapers, a travel pack of wipes, a change of clothing for our 18-month old son, an insulated lunch bag with snacks (usually crackers, Cheerios, granola bars, and oranges), a 16.9-ounce disposable water bottle, sunscreen, toys (usually a toy car or two), tissue, hand sanitizer, a smartphone, wallet, and keys. https://i.pinimg.com/originals/00/ce/07/00ce078af1800b41ab4317acf82bffa7.jpg
"This is an exciting initiative for New York that addresses a critical need, and if implemented, will have a far-reaching impact on various aspects of society, especially for the next generation," says Ryan Lee-James, PhD an Assistant Professor at Adelphi University. "I view this initiative as both a direct and indirect pathway to address the well-documented achievement gap between children reared in poverty and those growing up with higher income families, as it provides moms, who otherwise may not have had the opportunity, to further their education and thus, afford their children more opportunities."
The Nightlight selected the B.F.F. as the best diaper bag and Lucie’s List named it one of its top picks in 2017. It comes in nearly 50 patterns and colors that range from the prim to the nautical, to the adorable (yes, the bag comes in more than one Hello Kitty pattern). In online reviews, owners (mostly moms) rave about the design of its pockets and how easy the bag is to clean. And though there are some complaints that it’s not roomy enough, others say it has plenty of space, even for cloth diapers. “We tried SO many diaper bags before finally investing in this one,” said one owner. “This bag fit all the criteria and more! I can easily fit my cloth diapers, extra outfits, everything for me, her jacket, water bottle, snacks for me, and so much more. I love that it is so easy to care for this bag and I can toss it in the wash.”
Diaper bags are specifically designed to schlep all the things you need for your baby or toddler. Chances are, your little angel will surprise you with the biggest, smelliest, most disgusting blowout when you are miles away from home. Diaper bags generally come equipped with a changing pad, and have room to hold diapers, wipes, hand sanitizer and creams, a change of clothing or two, snacks, and a smartphone and a wallet, often in a series of pockets designed with specific items in mind. Some also have external, sometimes insulated, pockets for milk and/or water bottles, and designated straps to hook the bag onto your stroller. (Note: Though the JPMA and Consumer Reports advise against hanging a bag on a stroller because of the tip risk, most diaper bag makers—and parents—ignore this warning). https://i.pinimg.com/236x/ac/72/c9/ac72c9d1247bd5044d8abc448527cd40--lularoe-party-thirty-one-party.jpg

I have 4 kiddos and currently love the Harbor Side Tote (although the new satchel looks adorable too), from Vilah Bloom! I believe they are based out of Michigan and the company was very attentive when my latest shipment was late. It has a comfortable, detachable cross body option and lots of pockets inside and out. I too, have gone through a ton of diaper bags over the years as our needs have changed. I’m hoping I can use this one for a few more years, since it doesn’t really look like a diaper bag to me! https://i.pinimg.com/236x/82/55/d2/8255d217492b5beacd065848f747c645.jpg

The Zip-Top Organizing Utility Tote (ZOUT) is designed to make life easier for you. With seven exterior pockets, there isn’t much this versatile tote can’t hold. Take it with you on your trip to the beach, pool or park, or add a Fold N’ File to take your office or school work with you while keeping it all organized. Use it as a diaper bag when you’re out and about with the baby. When you’re at home, use it to organize your car, basement, closets, or laundry room. https://i.pinimg.com/236x/eb/47/47/eb474760ab6a7ff5a693e8c274753d94--thirty-one-bags-thirty-one-gifts.jpg

Aside from features and functionality, preferences and personal style will definitely attract some people to the B.F.F. The look of this bag is simply more suited to some people than the Skip Hop. And having tested both side by side, we consider each a good value. But let’s be honest, if you are ready to pay nearly $200 for a diaper bag, you’re probably not considering this against the Skip Hop. If it were our money, we’d rather buy this than one of the other similarly priced bags out there.

Over time, though, something started to shift. I realized I felt trapped by my daughter's feeding schedule. I felt isolated in the fact that she needed me―only me―and that I couldn't ask for help with this monumental task even if I truly needed it. While I was still so grateful that I was able to breastfeed without much difficulty, a growing part of me began fantasizing about the freedom and shared burden that would come if we bottle fed, even just on occasion.
Another thing that sets it apart is a high-end look and feel as well as some additional features that are nice but not essential—there’s a set of luggage-style feet that keep the bag up off a dirty surface (a feature no other pick has). The construction feels really robust, although you do see some occasional complaints of things breaking that really shouldn’t. https://i.pinimg.com/236x/fc/72/65/fc72654e676fb28086366513b0ad4169.jpg

The easiest to clean of all the bags we tested, the Ju-Ju-Be B.F.F. was also the most versatile, with adjustable, removable straps that allow it to be carried as a cross-body messenger bag, backpack, shoulder bag, or tote. It was arguably the most stylish bag we picked, and definitely the most expensive. For the extra investment, the Ju-Ju-Be adds features not seen in our other picks, including some handy metal feet that elevate the bag off a dirty surface, and convenient touches like a felt-lined sunglasses pocket. https://i.pinimg.com/236x/fe/35/1e/fe351e084a63968ed9ac7bd9f1a4d896.jpg

The adjustable, padded no-slip strap and tote handles make the bag one of the easiest and most comfortable to carry; we found that the adjustable strap is long enough to allow smaller and medium-size adults to carry the bag messenger-bag-style if they choose. Not many in our tests could be carried multiple ways, and we appreciated the versatility when walking long distances or quickly setting the bag down and picking it up again. At 1¾ pounds (our own weight measurement), the Skip Hop was one of the lightest bags among our dozen finalists. It has easy-to-attach clips that make it a cinch to hang on your stroller (although this does run the risk of tipping your stroller over).

2) I'm letting go of guilt because...the right bottle will prevent any discomfort. It took us a bit of trial and error to find the right bottle that worked for my baby, but once we did, we rarely dealt with gas or discomfort―and the convenience of being able to pack along a meal for my child meant she never had to wait to eat when she was hungry. Dr. Brown's became my partner in this process, offering a wide variety of bottles and nipples designed to mimic the flow of my own milk and reduce colic and excess spitting up. When we found the right one, it changed everything.
This is our highest-ranking convertible diaper bag, and we love the style and functionality of this versatile and relatively unisex diaper bag system. The bag converts from a regular over-the-shoulder diaper bag, to a messenger bag, and to a super comfortable backpack with soft shoulder pads. So just when your arm or shoulder is getting sore, you can untuck the backpack straps from the side pocket, and off you go, in style and comfort. But it's not just versatile. This diaper bag is also super functional. It has outside and inside pockets, 3M baby bottle insulator pockets, and clever see-through plastic pockets inside so you can see what you're looking for before you go searching. It's relatively small, but we found it big enough for one baby, and the fact that you can open the main compartment nice and wide really helps you fit all your things in (and prevents you from randomly searching for things). But it does have a few drawbacks, given its high price (like $170). For this price, we would expect a bit higher quality on the fabrics and zippers. They're good, but not quite on par with the heavier duty zippers of a SOHO bag, or the easy-clean fabrics of a SkipHop bag. So while it's on our list of best diaper bags, and we think it's worthy of inclusion, these drawbacks will keep it a bit lower in our reviews and ratings. Interested? You can check out this Ju-Ju-Be BFF diaper bag here. https://i.pinimg.com/originals/f0/7d/9c/f07d9cf60807cb214b023f38d9f9d11b.jpg
No matter which style you choose, you should think about how you'll be able to put it onto one of our best strollers: down in the stroller's basket, or would you like to hang it on the stroller's handlebars? If the latter, you should go ahead and buy a diaper bag that includes stroller straps, like several of our top-rated bags. We suspect you'll use that feature a lot. Of course, always use caution when hanging the diaper bag on the handlebars of your stroller: when you take your baby out, the stroller will flip over backwards (unless the bag is super light)! So definitely make sure that the stroller you choose has a nice large basket to fit your diaper bag. https://i.pinimg.com/236x/b2/8e/d4/b28ed4f64ab58913d6bac826c96cc29e--forever--manicure-and-pedicure.jpg
The Duo, which has been sold since 2003, has been a longtime best-seller from a company that makes almost two dozen different diaper bags. Just about every retailer we visited—chains, boutiques, and consignment stores, plus online retailers—carried this bag. Parents can pick from a dozen neutral or bold, graphic prints, and on some colors the interior is made of a light-colored fabric so that you can easily see what’s inside (not all diaper bags have gotten the memo on this).
1) I'm letting go of guilt because...I shouldn't feel guilty about sharing the connection with my baby. It's true that now I'm no longer the only one who can feed and comfort her any time of day or night. But what that really means is that now the door is open for other people who love her (my partner, grandparents, older siblings) to take part in this incredible gift. The first time I watched my husband's eyes light up as he fed our baby, I knew that I had made the right choice.
So why buy an actual diaper bag? They’re thoughtfully designed with right-size pockets for essential baby gear, and made with tough material that’s easy to clean—inevitably, milk or juice will spill inside, and crushed crackers will find their way into crevices. Mine has been tossed around in my car, dumped on park benches and dragged across wet grass. I once accidentally left a banana peel in it for a few days. “The diaper bag is for the diapering years,” said Meg Collins, founder of Lucie’s List, a blog that recommends essential baby products for new parents. “It’s meant to keep you organized and sane. You have go-to pockets for your keys, diapers and wipes. You don’t have to think or fumble.” That just may help you escape the house a little more quickly. https://i.pinimg.com/736x/85/8c/5c/858c5c7f61f48c2e534979d026866e59--frugal-tips-girls-night-out.jpg
This bag is designed to be worn as a backpack: It has ergonomically padded shoulder straps and a padded back panel with breathable mesh. Pack it full and your guy (or you) will still be comfortable. It also includes adjustable stroller straps and comes with a changing pad and a sundry bag. Gear-happy guys will love the 14 pockets that this bag boasts, so all of baby’s creams, pacis, and toys can stay organized and in place. There’s even a dedicated wipes pocket for easy access and an insulated bottle pocket. https://i.pinimg.com/170x/af/8b/fd/af8bfd035e13e56c5753107b2684479d--lets-get-nauti-bachelorette-bachelorette-ideas.jpg

Though the faith-based theme and mottos are subtle, many consultants enjoy working with a home party sales company that shares their values. Thirty One Gifts supports women in their efforts to bring prosperity to their households. Through the Thirty One Gives charity branch of the organization, the company also gives back to their local Ohio community through donations, building houses for the needy, product donations and more. This commitment to improving the quality of life for those less fortunate falls in line with the sentiments expressed in proverb Thirty One, bolstering the strength and capability of a woman-owned company filled with motivated female consultants and employees. https://i.pinimg.com/236x/8b/ff/51/8bff51b2be760e0a14eae8006f96599b--lia-sophia-marrakesh.jpg
